An exhaustive look at the degraded water infrastructure across the US&#8230; I&#8217;m usually not scared of wonky stories, but this was Not a natural video story.<\/p>\n<p>Then I grumbled some more while poring through seven wire stories to identify a handful of representative locations and interviews. But with some help from a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bcrodriguez\">colleague in Iowa<\/a>, this package came together.<\/p>\n<p>Collaboration paid off. It got picked up by 31 stations\/outlets &#8211; the most for 2015. Here&#8217;s how <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ktvu.com\/news\/southbay-news\/26393914-video\">KTVU in Oakland used my package<\/a> to fill 5 minutes in their 4pm newscast and send viewers to their website, which hosted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theunion.com\/news\/18404860-113\/interactive-map-nations-drinking-water-systems-imperiled-by\">AP&#8217;s interactive map<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bczb0zdIZuk?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong &#8211; I don&#8217;t think this was my best package ever. (Tho it wasn&#8217;t bad for only 2 days of shooting and a day to write and edit.)
